Welcome to level A1.

The courses have been designed to reflect the principle of action used by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which defines users of a language as social actors who have tasks to perform (that are not only linguistic) in given circumstances, in a given environment and within a specific area of action, which may be personal, public, academic or professional.

A1 level in one sentence :  you will be shopping a lot !

This level will allow you to recognize and use familiar words and phrases for concrete purposes. At this level, you are expected to perform the below tasks, among others :

- to talk about yourself and about people around you such as family members, friends and collogues. This covers many aspects such as : nature of work, personality and character, dreams, passions, hobbies and activities.  

- to ask and answer questions about home, family, surroundings, etc. Questions extend to cover many aspects of day to day life such as reservations, asking for information, over the phone, etc. 

- to manage daily situations such as at the market, the bakery. 

The courses are structured to help you perform varied language activities in comprehension, expression, interaction and mediation.
